Today, we announce the appointment of Yuval Sharon as the first Gary L. Wasserman Artistic Director!

Two years ago, September 18, 2018, Michigan Opera Theatre bade farewell to its beloved founder, David DiChiera. There is nothing that can be said about David that hasn’t already been said. He was one-of-a-kind, a true leader and impresario, a composer, a creator, a visionary genius, a big-hearted, hard-working, dedicated advocate of opera and dance. David loved Detroit, and the role he played in its renaissance with the creation of the spectacular Detroit Opera House is immeasurable. His vision and commitment were beyond extraordinary. Michigan Opera Theatre and Detroit Opera House patrons and supporters, whose steadfast support and commitment to the company mirrored his own, were dear to David.
