ABT Cancellation - Michigan Opera Theatre

ABT Cancellation

In light of the recent recommendations from the CDC and the State of Michigan, we regret to inform you that the performances in April by American Ballet Theatre of Swan Lake have been canceled.

This is a devastating loss to all of our respective seasons — Michigan Opera Theatre, University Musical Society, and American Ballet Theatre — but we must put the health and safety of our community first.

As an organization whose mission is predicated on bringing people together for shared creative and artistic experiences, it’s disheartening to put on hold what we do best.

Both Michigan Opera Theatre and the University Musical Society truly value our long-term partnership with American Ballet Theatre and their extraordinary company of artists and administrators. All three organizations will be actively working together to find a new period in the future to bring the company back to Michigan, but sadly, the circumstances we are all experiencing make presenting these performances next month impossible at this time. All of us here in Michigan wish everyone at American Ballet Theatre the very best during this challenging moment.

Your support of Michigan Opera Theatre, a non-profit organization, through the purchase of tickets is invaluable to what we present on stage, in classrooms, and out in the community. To continue that support, we have provided the option of donating the price of your ticket to the organization. All donations are tax deductible and go a long way to ensure that we are able to present outstanding opera and dance for years to come. Thank you for your consideration.
