National Opera Week with Isaac Mizrahi
Celebrate National Opera Week with Isaac Mizrahi and Michigan Opera Theatre
This week is National Opera Week, a celebration of all the great things about this beautiful art form! Organized by OPERA America, this is an opportunity for fans throughout the country to share their passion for opera with others.
As a fashion designer, TV personality and National Opera Week Honorary Chair Isaac Mizrahi says:
Opera Week is for those of us who love opera, but more than that, it’s for those of us who will be loving opera and don’t know it yet.
At the Michigan Opera Theatre, we are especially excited to celebrate this year as we honor our founder David DiChiera on his final season as artistic director. It was his vision over 40 years ago for a permanent home for opera in downtown Detroit that led to the renovation of this wonderful venue we now call home. As we celebrate National Opera Week, we invite you to join us for an opportunity to see the opera from a new perspective.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, we will be offering a Family Open House at the Detroit Opera House. The open house is an opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at one of the city’s most beautiful buildings and get a first-hand glimpse of what it takes to produce an opera. Tours commence every half hour from noon to 2:30 p.m. The event is free, reservations are recommended. Details and additional information about the production and community events is available here.
