Eisenhower Dance 25th Anniversary reviews

January 2016

Steve & Jan – Livonia

The dance show was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the Bollero Revisited dance.

Janice Chirio – Commerce

I might be bias, as Lindsay is my daughter, but every time I watch their performances, they just look better and better.  The dancers all compliment each other very nicely!!

Jennifer Valinski – Belleville

Cynthia Novell – Commerce Township

Enjoyed the performance. My husband is still amazed how the dancer bounced up from a plank position and was caught by another dancer.

Madel Ernemann – Warren

We thoroughly enjoyed the performances, especially the Bolero == outstanding!   Hope to see Eisenhower Dance next year.

shelly – Ann Arbor

Bolero was stunning. Eisenhower is such fun. Beautiful costumes, wonderful dancers. The lighting was incredible at this performance.  I love seeing them . Detroit has a world class dance troupe!

Laura – Detroit

What a great evening. It was the highlight of my weekend.

Lisa – West Bloomfield

Really enjoyed the performance. The dancers were wonderful. The only downside was the Opera house was way too warm. It felt like being in a sauna. My friend was fanning herself through the entire performance.

Natalie – Romulus

I have seen many dance shows and left this one perplexed and lacking luster. The first three performances were good, simple in nature, basic costumes with beautiful lighting. However, the “Springtime” piece left my family and I angry, frustrated, and stunned. The lighting, while good, was greeted with cell phones, TVS, and grocery carts; there wasn’t much dancing. I think critically interpretive pieces needn’t be added to the show as dance symbolizes beauty and creativity. The movement was succinct, again though, all of the competing images lead to a piece that felt more of a hodge lodge than a common theme. Overall, it was nice, but I will not be back to see them again.

Debi – Bloomfield Hills

Outstanding performance of contemporary dance. It was sight fuel to have them on the Opera House stage.

Stephanie – Clinton Township

I really enjoyed the different dances. The lighting was superb especially in the dance where the whole company moved in step. That was really cool. The last dance had me scratching my head although it was beautifully performed. All and all, I’d see them again.

Dorothy – Dearborn

Every time we see this group it seems that they get better and better. The first half was spectacular!  The Right of Spring was creatives!

Jim – Bingham Farms

We completely enjoyed the ballet and were especially impressed with ‘Rite’.  We love that the company took a chance to comment on human influence on the environment.  Judging by audience response, not many people wanted to be reminded of the negative impact we are having on Nature. Bravo to Eisenhower!

Molly – Auburn Hills

I have seen many dance performances and this company never fails to keep you on your toes. The dancers are strong, athletic and expressive! I loved Bolero, stunning lighting and choreography. I will definitely be back to see them again.

Cheryl – Farmington Hills

The dance company is very professional, very polished. Their movement and form is incredible. Bolero Revisited is a masterpiece. I erupted from my seat when it was over. Well done Eisenhower Dance – Detroit’s best kept dance secret.

Patti – Center Line

The dancers were phenomenal.  I am impressed and hope they will be coming back next year with new choreography and creativity.  I will be back.

Linda – Birmingham

The costumes and lighting were beautiful..the dancers strong and deft..sometimes, especially the last act..was repetitive. All in all, an interesting evening but, somewhat dull

Nancy – Bloomfield Hills

A thrilling evening of dance and the perfect venue to highlight the extraordinary talents of Laurie Eisenhower and the Eisenhower dancers. Such incredible stamina, strength and expertise in what was a dauntingly difficult program.  It was a huge success and well rewarded with encores and bravos. Endless applause to all including of course the   musicians.

Stanley Waldon – Detroit

Eisenhower’s dance performance was equal to, if not better than, many of the professional dance companies that tour the USA & the world.

anne sullivan smith – Dearborn

Loved Bolero Revisited. Powerful!
The company was stronger than ever.

Julie – Birmingham

Another thrilling performance. Laurie Eisenhower’s very inventive mind combined with the abilities, energy, and depth of the dancers made the dances outstanding. Congratulations.

Kyle Wentworth – Zeeland, Mich.

Wonderful performance throughout! Thank you for all of your hard work. As expected, Bolero was my favorite piece as well. It was truly an amazing collection of music, choreography, and artistry. I would come to watch just that piece again. All four pieces together provided a more complete vision of Eisenhower’s collection of style and talent. Not all dance styles are for all enthusiasts. However, you gave everyone something to enjoy.

Michael McFarland – Southfield

Bolero and Rite Of Spring were imaginative and stunning in terms of choreography, story line, performance, costumes, sets, props and lighting. The first two pieces were not nearly as interesting, especially to those of us seeing the company for the first time with no historical reference. Yes, I look forward to future performances.

Jackie – Sault Ste Marie

This was our second visit to the Detroit Opera House for a ballet performance. The Nutcracker was our first in December. I enjoyed both performances and was very impressed by the talent of the dancers of the Eisenhower Dance Company. Just thought there would be something “more” since this was the 25th anniversary.
